Today’s Starbucks Carrot Method adventure turned into a full Arizona nature documentary.

The dragon shrub remains decapitated by landscapers, and honestly the neighborhood shade economy may never recover.

The mesquite trees are looking thinner too, which means the sun laser is making it through a lot more than usual. But the breeze under the trees today was incredible. Add some Beach Boys music in the background, mesquite smell floating through the air, leaves dancing around overhead, and suddenly the whole walk felt like a tiny personal vacation tucked inside North Phoenix.

Highlights from today’s expedition:
– Bunny Tree was relocated successfully after temporarily forgetting which street he lived on.
– A hummingbird continued his lifelong mission of refusing to cooperate for photos.
– A tiny spider hitched a ride on my purse for who knows how long before I noticed my accidental travel buddy.
– The Thursday Engineering Lunch Council returned to Smashburger and once again behaved exactly like engineers.
– One very kind grandpa helped me stand up from my “sitting against the wall because the bench was trying to cook me alive” cooldown spot and then immediately told me a story about tripping over his shorts while playing tag with his grandkids.
– I found a baby prickly pear paddle shaped like a little heart and it was ridiculously cute.

Also discovered:
Mesquite trees look like God got really into Zen doodling that week.
Whoop, loop, swoop and pull it through. Half those trunks are literally tied into knots.

And yes, child me absolutely still looks at those trees and thinks:
“That thing is basically pre-built for a treehouse.”

Anyway, Walk 4 of 5 complete.

Still counts. 🌵💜
