(Wellness tips from the tournament floor)

Pinball tournaments can last 10, 12, or even 24 hours. Multi-day events like Pinburgh, INDISC, and marathon tournaments test more than your flipper skills — they test your stamina, focus, and recovery.
After years of league play and long tournament days, I’ve learned that surviving these events isn’t just about strategy — it’s about taking care of your body and your mind.

Andrew and I at SPF 2026. Long tournaments are fun… but they’re endurance events.

Long tournament days have taught me that surviving these events isn’t just about strategy — it’s about taking care of your body and your mind.

Pinburgh 2025. Hundreds of players, long days, and a lot of silverballs.

If you’re preparing for a long pinball tournament like Pinburgh, INDISC, or a marathon event, these pinball tournament survival tips can help you stay focused, energized, and upright through the entire weekend.

These are the strategies that help me stay upright, focused, and still enjoying pinball by the end of the weekend.

1️⃣ Feet matter more than people think

In long tournaments, your feet take the same punishment as your brain. If your feet go, your focus goes with them.

good shoes
backup shoes
slippers at the hotel
elevate feet between rounds

2️⃣ Real food beats junk food

wraps
fruit
nuts
veggies
eggs

3️⃣ Hydration strategy

4️⃣ Managing adrenaline and anxiety

5️⃣ The “stand for 10 hours” problem

6️⃣ Recovery between days

7️⃣ The secret weapon: incidental movement

During long tournaments, standing still actually makes fatigue worse. Small movement between rounds — walking, stretching, shaking out your legs — keeps your body from locking up.

walk a lap between rounds
stretch calves
reset mentally after a bad game

Pinball started as fun, became a passion, and slowly turned into a personal challenge — not just to improve my game, but to see how far I could push myself.

Pinball has taught me patience, emotional regulation, resilience, and how to lose — and win — with grace. I hope. ;^)

It’s also shown me how powerful community can be when competition and kindness coexist. Whether you’re brand new to pinball, league-curious, or deep into tournament life, this space is about learning, growth, and loving the process — not just chasing rankings.

No gatekeeping.

No ego.

Just silverballs, stories, and showing up again and again.
