Saturday morning, five walks down, and apparently Mother Nature decided we needed a little adventure to wrap up the week. 🌬️🐦🌵
Today’s walk to Starbucks was chilly, cloudy, and WINDY. The palm trees were doing their best impression of inflatable tube people outside a car dealership, and I was just trying to get where I was going without being blown into another zip code.

But the birds? Oh, the birds were being VERY photogenic today! 📸 They were practically posing for their close-ups, so naturally, I had to stop and appreciate the free entertainment along the way.

And the cactus flowers are not done showing off yet! The big flowering cactus closer to Starbucks has all sorts of buds developing, which means there may be more gorgeous blooms coming. I also spotted another beautiful flower along the route. The desert clearly has its own schedule, and I am here for it.

The Fitbit Report 📊
Today’s return walk came in at:
– 🚶 1.28 miles
– ⏱️ 34 minutes and 15 seconds
– 👟 2,921 steps
– ❤️ Average heart rate: 114 bpm
– 🔥 32 Zone Minutes
– 💪 Cardio load: 20
I spent 26 minutes in the moderate heart-rate zone and another four minutes in the vigorous zone.
Was this a giant cardio workout? Nope. Was it movement that got me outside, got my steps in, and gave me a chance to enjoy the world around me? Absolutely.
I’m learning not to get too worked up when the numbers aren’t spectacular, especially when the weather is chilly. I’m not out here trying to force my heart rate into submission. I’m building a routine that works in real life, and sometimes real life comes with wind, clouds, and birds who apparently understand the assignment better than I do.
The Adventure Isn’t Over Yet! ☕🎱
Now comes the next part of today’s schedule.

First, I’m heading home to eat my egg bites because they are currently hanging out in my purse. We need to get those out of there before we have another string cheese incident. 😂 Some lessons in life only need to be learned once. Or, apparently, twice if dairy is involved.
Then we’re packing up and heading to Outpost Arcade for the October monthly Belles & Chimes Phoenix tournament!
So, no, I am not done moving for the day. And no, I am not getting a nap today. Between the morning walk and a day of pinball, I have plenty going on.
Five walks completed for the week. Birds photographed. Cactus flowers admired. Wind survived. Egg bites rescued.
Now let’s see what kind of trouble we can get into with a pinball machine!

Movement in real life still counts. Even when you’re under-caffeinated, the wind is being a jerk, and your Saturday has absolutely no room for a nap.
Still counts. Always! 💜
