Well, apparently Monday decided to show up with a little Arizona weather plot twist. ππ§οΈ
I woke up to RAIN. Actual rain.
The kind that makes you wonder if Phoenix accidentally wandered into somebody else’s climate for a minute. π
But rain or shine, Monday is Monday, and that means it’s time for Walk 1 of 5 and Jazzercise.
So let’s get this week started!
π₯ Walk 1 of 5 – Rain, dogs, flowers, and a good dad.

I opened my garage to walk to the Starbucks only to discover it was raining. I was so excited, I started taking pictures, forgot to close the garage door, and headed out. Oops!
Apparently, the rain brought out the neighborhood. ππ§οΈ
It was cool, breezy, and actually pleasant outside, so everybody decided this was their chance to get out and enjoy it.
And by everybody, I mean ALL THE DOGS. ππ
Big dogs. Little dogs. Dogs I recognize. Dogs I don’t recognize. Dogs everywhere.
Apparently the entire neighborhood had been waiting for the temperature to drop and the sky to open up so they could collectively say, βWALKIES!β π
But the best part of the walk wasn’t even the dogs.
On my way to Starbucks, I passed a dad walking with his little kindergartner, and she was telling him stories.
And this dad?
He was doing it right.
He was asking her questions.
Listening to her.
Responding to what she was saying.
Giving her space to keep telling the story.
And I thought, Yep. This is good stuff.
So naturally, because I’m me, I ended up seeing the dad again on my way back from Starbucks. π
I stopped long enough to ask Dad if he thought the stories were the best part.
He agreed.
And honestly?
They are. β€οΈ
The Starbucks Carrot Method is back on the schedule, and we’re officially kicking off another week of walks.
There is something about getting that first walk of the week done that makes the rest of the week feel a little more manageable.
And today, the rain made the whole thing a little more interesting. π§οΈ
I’m pretty sure the universe was saying:
“You wanted cooler walking weather, didn’t you?” πππ
I’ll take it.

π Jazzercise #53: Latin HIIT with Darlene

Then it was time for Cardio Sculpt 60 HIIT with Darlene at 9:15.
And apparently today we were going LATIN.
Which means thighs, core, hips and “shaking your tatas off!”
Lots. of. hips. ππ
I may have walked into class thinking I was going to exercise and accidentally ended up at a Latin dance party.
But hey…
Movement is movement.
And this one was definitely fun!
Jazzercise Receipts

Today’s Fitbit numbers:
π₯ 420 calories burned
β±οΈ 1 hour 2 minutes
β€οΈ 117 bpm average heart rate
π₯ 72 active zone minutes
Heart Rate Zones
π΅ Light β 15 minutes
π’ Moderate β 22 minutes
π‘ Vigorous β 25 minutes
π΄ Peak β 0 minutes
That’s 47 minutes in moderate-to-vigorous zones during the class.
And Fitbit had already recorded 10,849 steps by 10:28 this morning.
So yeah…
Monday is apparently not messing around. π

π§οΈ And then there was the rain…

After class, I got back in the car to this:
β’ Rain on the windshield.
β’ “Mug the cat” staring at me from the dashboard.
β’ And me sitting there thinking:
“Well. We did it.” ππββ¬
Honestly, this is exactly why I love documenting this stuff.
It’s not some perfectly curated fitness journey.
It’s rainy mornings.
It’s showing up when you don’t necessarily feel like it.
It’s Latin Cardio Sculpt HIIT class where the instructor informs you that you are going to “shake your tatas off!” when you thought you were just going to exercise.
It’s walking.
It’s dancing.
It’s getting 10,000+ steps before lunchtime.
It’s doing what you can and letting that count.
Because that’s the whole point.
Movement in real life still counts. π
And now…
Walk 1 of 5 βοΈ
Jazzercise #53 βοΈ
Monday down.
And we’re just getting started.
Not a bad way to start the week.
Still Counts. Always!π
