Jazzercise #47 is DONE! πͺπ
And today was FUN.
After my Walk 5 of 5 to Starbucks this morning β complete with 11 woodpeckers, a suspicious 1,449 feet of Fitbit elevation, and excellent coffee β I headed home, changed, showered, and made it to Jazzercise just in time.
I was outside the studio by 9:10 AM, so YAY ME. π
And then Darlene decided we were going to have a little Latin dance party.
π THE LATINO MUSIC MONTAGE
Today’s class had a whole Latino-music vibe going on, with lots of:
π Mambo
π Cha-cha
π Tango
π Sashaying
π Twisting
π Turning
π Generally having a ridiculously good time
And I had the perfect outfit for it.
I was wearing one of those little flowy skorts β exercise shorts underneath with a little skirt over the top.
And OH MY GOD.
Every time we did the cha-cha and I did the little:
sashay, sashay, sashay⦠TURN!
TWIST! TWIST!
GO THE OTHER WAY!
the skirt would SWISH around.
πππ
It was like being a four-year-old little girl in a dress spinning around in circles.
Except instead of randomly spinning around the living room, I was doing a cha-cha in a Jazzercise class.
And the skirt looked SO COOL moving with the steps!
I may have been slightly more entertained by my own outfit than was strictly necessary.
And I regret NOTHING. π
πΆ Darlene BROUGHT IT
The whole class had such a fun energy today.
There is something about music that makes certain workouts feel completely different.
Instead of thinking, Ugh, I’m exercising, my brain was more like:
LOOK AT THE SKIRT GO!
ππ
And honestly?
I’ll take it.
β±οΈ I DID NOT STAY FOR FLOOR WORK
Now, before anyone gets too impressed with my dedication:
I did NOT stay for the entire hour.
We got to about the 50-minute mark and then the class transitioned into floor work.
Crunches.
Floor exercises.
The part where everyone gets down on the floor and does things that I was simply not interested in doing today.
So I politely gathered my stuff and snuck my ass out of there. π
Everyone else was doing crunches.
I was like:
βWelp! This has been lovely. BYYYYYE!β ππ
And you know what?
That’s okay.
I got almost 50 minutes of cardio.
I moved my body.
I had fun.
And I left before doing something I didn’t feel like doing.
That’s still a workout.
π THE FITBIT RECEIPT
And Fitbit apparently agreed that I did, in fact, exercise.
Today’s Jazzercise session:
π 49 minutes, 5 seconds
π₯ 411 calories
β€οΈ 134 bpm average heart rate
β‘ 60 cardio load
β±οΈ 86 active-zone minutes
π‘ 41 minutes in the vigorous zone
π’ 6 minutes in the moderate zone
π΅ 2 minutes in the light zone
Fitbit says 84% of the workout was spent in the vigorous zone.

So apparently the flowy skort wasn’t just putting on a show.
It was WORKING. π
And between my morning Starbucks walk and Jazzercise, I passed 10,000 steps before 10:10 AM.
That’s a pretty damn productive Saturday morning.
π₯ FIVE WALKS + FOUR JAZZERCISES
This was also the perfect way to finish off Walk 5 of 5.
Five Starbucks walks this week.
Then Jazzercise #47.
And somewhere in there I managed to photograph approximately 4 pictures of my outfit, eleven woodpeckers, cactus flowers, Bunny Tree, and apparently one mysterious mountain according to Fitbit.
πππ
That’s what I love about this whole routine.
It doesn’t have to be perfect.
It doesn’t have to look like a traditional workout plan.
Sometimes it’s a 2.55-mile walk to Starbucks.
Sometimes it’s stopping to watch a ridiculous number of woodpeckers.
Sometimes it’s a fitness tracker insisting you climbed 1,449 feet when you absolutely did not.
And sometimes it’s a flowy skort and a cha-cha.
ππ
π THE POINT
I’m not trying to create some perfectly optimized fitness life.
I’m trying to create a life where moving my body is just something I do.
β’ Sometimes I walk.
β’ Sometimes I Jazzercise.
β’ Sometimes I dance around in a ridiculous little skirt and have way too much fun watching it swish.
β’And sometimes I leave before the crunches.
Because wellness without perfection is still wellness.
Movement in real life still counts.
ALWAYS. π₯ππ
Jazzercise #47 β DONE. π
And Darlene? Love you!
Please keep the Latin music coming.
I’m bringing the swishy skirt. ππ
