Some mornings are about pushing as hard as you can. Others are about enjoying the movement, learning something new, and leaving with a smile. Today was one of those mornings.
The playlist was a fun mix of Carlos Santana, Madonna, and Demi Lovato, which kept the energy up without making the class feel frantic. It was a nice combination of familiar music and great choreography.
Today’s class reminded me that I’m still figuring out where I fit best in the room. I think I’ve found my sweet spot—somewhere in the middle with a couple of people in front of me. I like being able to watch the instructor, but I also learn by seeing someone else do the moves. Having a person or two to follow helps me stay on beat and keeps my feet from getting confused!
Darlene’s classes include quite a bit of jumping, so I continued modifying many of the moves to protect my ankles. I’m still cautious because of my previous ankle injuries, and that’s okay. I learned that modifying doesn’t mean I’m doing less—it means I’m doing what’s right for my body while still getting a great workout.

The numbers backed that up:
72-minute workout
474 calories burned
88 Active Zone Minutes
38 minutes in the vigorous heart rate zone
Most importantly, I had fun.
Every class teaches me something. Today it was that the right spot in the room can make just as much difference as the right pair of shoes.
One workout. One song. One step at a time. It all still counts. Always!💜
