Today’s wellness substitution activity:
“Too hot to walk outside, attempting roller skating instead… still counts.”
Results:
Fell on my butt ✔️
Mild road rash ✔️
Sweating catastrophic ✔️
Dignity mostly intact ✔️
Survived ✔️
The roller rink atmosphere can best be described as: “nostalgia, chaos, fireworks murals, Pokémon episodes, and inflatable cryptid energy.”

Highlights included:
Fine Young Cannibals and Soft Cell sending me directly back to high school.
Discovering that roller skating uses approximately every stabilizer muscle known to mankind.
Learning that being 5’10” means it is, in fact, a very long way to the floor.
Protecting the pinball hands with wrist guards like an aging athlete entering battle.
Realizing the carpet at Great Skate may actually be a national treasure.
Stats:
1 hour 11 minutes
260 calories burned
18 active zone minutes
Average heart rate: 92 bpm
Sweat level: “Arizona monsoon”
Muscle feedback: “respectfully, what are you doing?”
Exercise Receipts

Honestly though? Still counts.
This is exactly what summer wellness in Arizona looks like sometimes:
adjusting,
improvising,
trying weird things,
laughing at yourself,
and finding movement that keeps you indoors when the sun is actively trying to fight humanity.
Not every workout has to be perfect.
Sometimes it’s just: “we tried something new and survived the experience.”
And yes… I will probably go again eventually.
After my bruised rear end negotiates the terms.
Still counts.
It’s Friday! Check out Foodie Friday.
