My First Peak Heart Rate — Danced My Way There
Today, something new happened.
For the first time ever, I hit Peak heart rate during dance cardio.
Not while running. Not in a gym. Not doing anything extreme.
I danced.
And honestly? That feels exactly right.

What Happened (The Data Part)
During today’s dance cardio session, my Fitbit showed:
29 minutes in Vigorous heart rate zones
2 minutes in Peak
Peak heart rate: 161 bpm
That Peak moment happened naturally—around the 20–25 minute mark—when the music was good, my body was warmed up, and I stopped thinking about effort and just moved.
This wasn’t about pushing through pain. It was about staying engaged long enough for my body to rise to the challenge.
Why This Matters (Especially If You Hate the Gym)
I talk a lot about Still Counts, incidental exercise, and movement that fits real life. This is exactly why.
Dance cardio is often labeled “low impact,” and people sometimes mistake that for “not effective.” Today’s data says otherwise.
Low impact doesn’t mean low intensity. Fun doesn’t mean easy. Joy doesn’t cancel effort.
It means sustainability.
The Secret Sauce: Music, Movement, Regulation
Here’s what made the difference today:
🎶 Music that makes me move — not background noise, but songs that invite dancing
💃 Full-body walking dance — arms swinging, marching, skipping, posture
Still going.
