Done in five seconds!

Monday night pinball was a little bit of everything this week—great food, some very solid games, one machine I continue to hate with all my heart, and somehow… FIVE STRAIGHT SECOND-PLACE FINISHES. 😂

Epic Women’s League Week 6 brought another night of group match play, and I came in ready to see what I could do against a field that continues to get tougher.

And apparently, my answer this week was:

“I will finish second. Every. Single. Time.”

🎲 Round 1 — Dungeons & Dragons
2nd Place

We started the night on Dungeons & Dragons, and somehow this would turn out to be the beginning of a very specific theme for the evening.
Second place.

One round down.
Four more to go.

Little did I know I was apparently committed to collecting silver medals.

🌋 Round 2 — Volcano
2nd Place — 137,150

Volcano was a pretty solid game for me.
I put together four drop targets and a ball lock, and then had a much stronger third ball where I got more shots to the upper-right area and worked the 3X multipliers.

The first two balls were a little messy—including a house ball from a bad plunge—but I recovered nicely and finished with 137,150.

Second place.
Again.

At this point, I probably should have recognized the pattern. 😂

🦈 Round 3 — JAWS
2nd Place — 210.9 million

And then came JAWS.

I had a rough first ball at only 4.3 million, but things got considerably better from there. I worked Pond Attack, reels, chum shots, attempts at the fin, drop targets and boat shots, and even managed to save a ball from the outlane.

Then Ball 3 happened.

I got into JAWS Multiball and Tiger Shark mode, hit the upper reel twice, and put up a 210.9 million final score.

That was good enough for…
Second place.

I will absolutely take a second-place finish on JAWS. 😂

🚀 Round 4 — Buck Rogers
2nd Place — 151,480

Buck Rogers was another very steady game.

I started at 80.6K on Ball 1, followed that with 111.8K on Ball 2, and then finished Ball 3 at 151.4K.

Final score: 151,480.
And, naturally…
Second place.

Apparently tonight’s theme was “Christy finishes second.”

☢️ Round 5 — Total Nuclear Annihilation
2nd Place — 85,540

Oh, Total Nuclear Annihilation.
Have I mentioned lately how much I hate this game with all my heart?
Because I do. 😂

Ball 1 was ugly: 11K.

Ball 2 was better at 35.6K, including getting the reactor lit and working the multipliers.

Ball 3 finally gave me something to work with, and I climbed all the way to 85,540.

And somehow…
SECOND PLACE.

I hate this game.
This game hates me.

But apparently we can coexist long enough for me to get league points out of it.

📊 The Week 6 Scorecard
And here’s the ridiculous part:
Five rounds.
Five second-place finishes.

🎲 Dungeons & Dragons — 2nd
🌋 Volcano — 2nd
🦈 JAWS — 2nd
🚀 Buck Rogers — 2nd
☢️ Total Nuclear Annihilation — 2nd
That’s 25 league points for the night.

The season standings have me sitting at 25 points, tied for 6th, while the leaders are at 29 points.

So no, this isn’t enough to magically launch me into A Division.

But it is another night of consistently putting myself in position to score points.

And that’s the part I’m happy about.

🎯 The Bigger Picture

The most encouraging thing about this season isn’t one giant score. It’s the consistency.

I’m repeatedly finishing toward the top of my groups, I’m recovering from bad balls instead of letting one mistake ruin an entire game, and I’m finding ways to score even on machines that aren’t exactly my favorites.

And this week?
FIVE SECOND-PLACE FINISHES.

Apparently I have decided that second place is my personal brand. 😂

I’ll take it.

The A Division goal is still out there. We’re not there yet—but we’re still moving in that direction.

One league night, one machine, and one ball at a time. And some incidental exercise along the way.
