Week 5 was definitely a tale of two halves.

I came out of the gate feeling confident and executed my game plan almost perfectly on Ghostbusters. From there, I followed it up with a solid second-place finish on Godzilla. Unfortunately, the second half of the night didn’t go quite as planned. Pokémon slipped away on the final ball, James Bond never got rolling, and Venom refused to cooperate. That’s pinball—sometimes everything clicks, and sometimes the machine simply never gives you the opening you’re looking for.

Round 1 – Ghostbusters (Pro) 🥇 (7 points)

This was easily my best game of the night.

I walked up with a plan, focused on the skill shots and modes I wanted, and actually executed them. I hit multiple skill shots, started Librarian and Come On, Man!, built multipliers, and finished with a multiball.

Final Score: 225,412,130

Starting the night with a first-place finish always feels good.

Round 2 – Godzilla (Pro) 🥈 (5 points)

Godzilla was a steady game.

I worked on Gigan, changed cities, made ramps and loops, and kept adding points throughout the game. My final score wasn’t huge, but it was enough to hold onto second place by less than two million points after a strong bonus count.

Final Score: 45,910,000

Sometimes surviving and collecting every available point is just as important as putting up monster scores.

Round 3 – Pokémon Pinball 🏅 (1 point)

This one hurt a little.

After Ball 2 I was sitting in second place, but both opponents behind me had enormous Ball 3s and passed me. I managed to find Pokémon, catch one, and even start Pikachu Multiball, but it wasn’t enough to keep pace.

Final Score: 57,300,000

Round 4 – James Bond 007 (Pro) 🥉 (3 points)

Normally James Bond is one of my better games, but this night it never clicked.

I struggled with the skill shot, never got a mode started, never reached a multiball, and spent the game trying to recover. Fortunately, I climbed from fourth to third on the final ball.

Final Score: 6,800,000

Not every machine is going to cooperate.

Round 5 – Venom (Pro) 🏅 (1 point)

Venom was simply frustrating.

I started with Brock, made progress on arrows, ramps, loops, and uprights, but never got the game going. I never started a significant scoring opportunity, and without that, I couldn’t keep up with the rest of the group.

Final Score: 12,576,350

Sometimes it feels like the game never really starts, and that’s exactly how Venom felt.

Final Results
🥇 Ghostbusters – 1st (7)
🥈 Godzilla – 2nd (5)
🏅 Pokémon – 4th (1)
🥉 James Bond – 3rd (3)
🏅 Venom – 4th (1)
Total: 17 League Points

Overall, I’m a little disappointed because I know I’m capable of better on both James Bond and Venom. Those are definitely the two machines I’ll be practicing before the final week.

That said, there’s also a lot to be happy about. Ghostbusters showed what happens when I stick to a game plan, and Godzilla proved that every point matters. I’m still solidly in B Division, and while A Division would be exciting, just being in the conversation is a reminder of how much my game has improved over the past few seasons.
