Some league nights are about surviving.
Others remind you why you love competitive pinball.
Week 5 was one of those nights.
After a frustrating start on Iron Man, I stayed patient, trusted my game, and finished the evening with three consecutive first-place finishes. With only one week remaining before finals, every league point mattered.
Round 1 – Iron Man (Vault)

🥉 3rd Place – 3 League Points
Iron Man was absolutely brutal.
I started with a skill shot before immediately suffering a post-and-out drain. Ball 2 wasn’t much kinder. I managed to start Monger and hit Whiplash before another quick drain, but the machine rejected shots all game long.
Final Scores
- Andrew Kohtz – 3.774M
- Lynnea Read – 2.144M
- Christy Kohtz – 2.078M
- Amanda Williams – 1.976M
Not the start I wanted, but there were still four rounds left.
Round 2 – Pokémon Pro

🥉 3rd Place – 3 League Points
Pokémon treated me much better.
I caught multiple Pokémon, filled my Pokédex, battled, and came within a shot or two of starting multiball. Unfortunately, John Shopple and Henry Hanshaw both put together monster games over 100 million.
Final Scores
- John Shopple – 148.3M
- Henry Hanshaw – 101.7M
- Christy Kohtz – 50.639M
- Kyle Erickson – 34.729M
Running Total: 6 League Points
Round 3 – Stars (5-Ball)

🥇 1st Place – 7 League Points
Then came Stars.
This is exactly the style of machine I love.
Five controlled plunges. Spinner shots. Drop targets. Ball control. Patience.
Everything clicked.
Against Greg Drewes, Loren Silverman, and Mark Pearson, I played one of my cleanest classic games of the season.
Final Scores
- Christy Kohtz – 190,570
- Greg Drewes – 159,000
- Loren Silverman – 61,000
- Mark Pearson – 49,000
Running Total: 13 League Points
Round 4 – The Munsters (Premium)

🥇 1st Place – 7 League Points
This game was just plain fun.
I started Herman Multiball and discovered something I somehow hadn’t figured out before—hammering the flashing action button collects repeated Super Jackpots.
Could’ve used that information a few years ago!
Later I started Grandpa’s Laboratory and Grandpa Multiball before cruising to another first-place finish.
Final Scores
- Christy Kohtz – 9,631,290
- Katie Adler – 3.5M
- Peter Velasco – 2.3M
- Pat Roth – 340K
Running Total: 20 League Points
Round 5 – Sorcerer

🥇 1st Place – 7 League Points
My final round paired me with league leader Paul Hoeprich, along with Nick Mesa and Thomas Clarkin.
Ball 1 wasn’t anything special. I hit a few drop targets before the ball ended quickly, leaving me in third place.
Ball 2 completely changed the game.
I hit the skill shot, collected a ball lock, cleared more drop targets, and jumped from 21,500 points to 85,000, moving into second place.
Then everything came together on Ball 3.
I started Multiball, collected more drop targets, built my multipliers, and put together my biggest ball of the game. I exploded from 85,000 all the way to 434,000 points, passing Nick’s 278,000 and pulling away from the field.
Final Scores
- Christy Kohtz – 434,000
- Nick Mesa – 278,000
- Paul Hoeprich – 80,000
- Thomas Clarkin – 33,000
Winning the final round against the league leader felt like a great way to finish the night.
Running Total: 27 League Points
Final Thoughts
Sometimes the first game tries to convince you it just isn’t your night.
Iron Man certainly did.
Instead of letting that frustration carry over, I settled in, trusted my game, and finished with three straight victories on Stars, The Munsters, and Sorcerer.
That’s the kind of resilience I’m proud of.
Wellness Stats (Fitbit)
Even though Fitbit still makes me log league nights as golf, competitive pinball keeps me moving.

It’s not a traditional workout, but it’s several hours on my feet, walking between machines, concentrating, reacting, and staying mentally engaged.
Movement comes in many forms.
Final League Points: 27
Now there’s just one regular season week left before finals.
Still counts. Always. 💜
