Cloud cover made for surprisingly comfortable walking weather today. High 70s, no breeze, and just enough sun peeking through the clouds to keep everything feeling bright without overheating.
Spring in the desert is subtle but fast-moving.

All the prickly pear flowers we’ve been seeing over the past couple weeks are already starting to turn into fruit. Desert seasons don’t wait around.

The sky over Shaw Butte looked especially dramatic today with the layered clouds, and one of the nicest moments on the walk was seeing a mom pulling her little girls in a wagon — future walkers in training.

Music choice today: Three Chords by Goodbye June.
They sound a little like AC/DC with a southern accent, and the steady rhythm makes for great walking cadence.
Neighborhood walks are not always scenic trails and quiet nature preserves.

Sometimes the scenery includes power lines, utility trucks, alley work projects, and whatever equipment is steaming away on the side of the road. Real life environments still count.
Little details showed up along the route today:
- bright yellow flowers growing out of gravel
- desert plants shifting from bloom to fruit
- changing skies over North Phoenix
- everyday neighborhood activity
- coffee motivation successfully achieved
