Sunday coffee mission successful

Some Sundays are meant for big adventures.

Others are meant for coffee, sunshine, and letting your body move without pressure.

Today was one of those mornings.

The Arizona sky was that deep, perfect blue, but the sun was already starting to show its usual desert personality — cool air with that bright, unforgiving light that reminds you summer is always lurking nearby.

Coffee was acquired, and I found my usual bench for a several minutes of shade and quiet before heading home.

☕ Bench break success.

Fitbit Walk Stats

Today’s walk turned into a solid active rest day session.
Duration: 1 hour 11 minutes
Distance: 1.37 miles
Steps: 3,112
Calories burned: 286
Average heart rate: 102 bpm
Active zone minutes: 31
According to Fitbit, I spent:
40 minutes in the light zone
31 minutes in the moderate zone

That’s exactly the kind of movement that helps build aerobic endurance without exhausting your body.

Why Active Rest Days Matter

One thing I’m learning during this wellness journey is that rest doesn’t mean doing nothing.

Sometimes the best recovery comes from gentle movement that keeps circulation going. Walking is perfect for that.
It clears your head, wakes up your muscles, and reminds your body that movement is just a normal part of the day.

No gym required.

No punishment required.

Just walking.

The Coffee Factor

Let’s also be honest about something important.
Coffee tastes significantly better when you walk to get it.
This is what I call the Starbucks Carrot Method:

Walk to coffee.

Enjoy coffee.

Walk home.

Suddenly exercise doesn’t feel like a chore.
It just feels like part of the adventure.

Still Counts

Walk Receipts

Some days will be big workouts.

Some days will just be a quiet coffee walk in the Phoenix sun.

Both count.

One unexpected benefit of these daily walks is how much easier long pinball nights have become. Standing at a machine for hours takes more stamina than people think. Pinball is secretly an endurance sport.

Every mile I walk is basically training for the next tournament.

And today definitely still counts. ☕🚶‍♀️
