WE DID IT, PEOPLE!
October 1โ31, I participated in the American Cancer Society’s 62-Mile October Walking Challenge, combining my Starbucks Carrot Method with a cause worth walking for.
And the results?

๐ถโโ๏ธ 66.71 miles of logged walks before Halloween!
๐ Another 2.67 miles on Halloween morning!

๐ 18 Jazzercise sessions!
๐ฎ A whole lot of Pinball
๐ 135.61 miles of total daily movement BEFORE Halloween’s final walk was added!
๐๏ธ $194 RAISED FOR THE AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY!
And a whole lot of complaining, laughing, sweating, and occasionally arguing with my Fitbit. ๐
But here’s what really blew my mind.
My Fitbit showed 66.71 miles of deliberate, logged walks, but my total daily movement was already 135.61 miles.
That’s a difference of 68.90 miles!
Where did all that extra movement come from?
Jazzercise, pinball, grocery shopping, cleaning, laundry, errands, and all the other happy horse stuff that comes with being an adult.
IT ALL ADDS UP!
And here’s my latest revelation:
ADULTS DESERVE GOLD STARS, TOO! โญ
When you’re a kid, you get treats, prizes, or allowance for doing chores.
When you’re an adult, you get to clean the same damn kitchen again tomorrow.
Where’s my reward?!
Well, Fitbit has given me something I didn’t realize I needed: a little acknowledgment that all that everyday movement matters.
And that’s a pretty great feeling.
October wasn’t perfect. There were rainy days, muggy walks, motivational struggles, and a Halloween morning when Rob Zombie’s Dragula had to rescue my enthusiasm.
But I kept moving.
And along the way, we raised $194 for the American Cancer Society!
THANK YOU to everyone who supported Carrots for a Cause! ๐
This month was about more than walking. It was about showing up, helping a good cause, and recognizing that everyday movement deserves credit.
Wellness without perfection. Movement in real life still counts. Always!
And yes, I earned my gold star! โญ๐คฃ
Happy Halloween, everyone! ๐๐ค
