Monday morning came in HOT. Literally. 😂

I kicked off Walk 1 of 5 in this week’s North Phoenix Walking Series with my favorite little adventure: the Starbucks Carrot Method walk. ☕🥕🚶‍♀️

I headed out for my Starbucks walk, headphones on, listening to the History Chicks episode about Bertha Palmer, and enjoying some much-needed me time.

There’s something about walking to Starbucks by myself, at my own pace, with a good podcast in my ears that makes the whole thing feel like a little escape.

And yes, there was a brief encounter with a kid on a bicycle that required the emergency activation of the Mama Reflexes™. 😂 Thankfully, everyone survived.

☕ Walk 1 stats

Outbound:
🚶‍♀️ 1.33 miles
⏱️ 35 minutes
👣 2,976 steps
❤️ Average HR 122 bpm
🔥 263 calories
⚡ Cardio load 30

Then I turned around and came home.

Return:
🚶‍♀️ 1.24 miles
⏱️ 40 minutes
👣 2,712 steps
❤️ Average HR 136 bpm
🔥 355 calories
⚡ Cardio load 47

Walk Receipts

That’s 2.57 miles of walking before I even got to Jazzercise.

And because apparently that wasn’t enough… I took a shower and headed off to Jazzercise…

💃 JAZZERCISE #44!

Today was Darlene’s Open House Event, where everyone was encouraged to bring a friend and get more butts in the studio. I couldn’t convince anyone to come with me this time, but that’s okay—I brought my own butt. 😂

And HOLY CRAP did that butt WORK.

Today’s Jazzercise session:

🔥 578 calories
⏱️ 1 hour, 26 seconds
❤️ 144 bpm average heart rate
🚀 166 bpm peak heart rate
💪 Cardio load 98
⚡ 118 active zone minutes

And here’s the part that really made me sit up:

🟡 48 minutes in the vigorous zone
🔴 10 MINUTES IN THE PEAK ZONE

That’s 58 minutes out of the hour in vigorous or peak intensity.

Jazzercise Receipts

Fitbit actually called it a “serious push” and an “acute breakthrough in cardiovascular intensity.”

Yeah. I think Darlene may have been trying to kill us. 😂

By the end of Jazzercise, I had:

👣 10,970 steps for the day
❤️ 201 of 242 weekly cardio points
⚡ 83% of my weekly cardio goal already completed

ON MONDAY.

And then there’s the other part of this whole experiment that makes me ridiculously happy…

🎗️ CARROT FOR A CAUSE UPDATE

We’ve officially reached our first $25 fundraising milestone for October’s Carrot for a Cause, benefiting the American Cancer Society! 🎉🥕🎗️

That $25 isn’t just a number. The American Cancer Society’s breast-cancer support program, formerly called Reach To Recovery and now ACS CARES, connects people facing breast cancer with trained volunteers who have been through breast cancer themselves.

So our little Starbucks walks are already starting to turn into something bigger than just “Christy needs coffee.” 😂

We’re walking.
We’re exercising.
We’re getting healthier.
We’re drinking entirely too much Starbucks. ☕
And we’re raising money to help people going through cancer.

That’s a pretty damn good Monday.

🥕☕🚶‍♀️💃🎗️

Week of September 13: WALK 1 OF 5 — COMPLETE.
Jazzercise #44 — COMPLETE.
$25 toward October’s Carrot for a Cause — COMPLETE.

And now…

I need yet another shower. 😂

Still counts.  Always!💜
