2 days of pinball tournaments this weekend = recovery walk this morning.

Monday, June 1, 2026, decided to skip “gentle warm-up” and go straight to “Arizona endurance side quest.”

Today’s Starbucks Carrot Method adventure included:
• radiant heat bouncing off white brick walls
• molten asphalt
• fro-yo delivery guy doing industrial CrossFit with a pallet jack
• sweat attempting to drown my earbuds

• a mockingbird appearance
• a woodpecker sighting
• my crow yelling at me for apparently being late
• emergency shade negotiations
• and the realization that platform hiking sandals might actually be a survival tool in desert street walking😆

The funny part? The walk TO Starbucks and the walk HOME were almost the same distance and time… but Arizona heat said, “absolutely not the same workout.”

Walk TO Starbucks:
1.39 miles
3,121 steps
43 minutes
218 calories
average heart rate: 93 bpm
cardio load: 9
10 active zone minutes

Walk HOME from Starbucks:
1.29 miles
3,034 steps
43 minutes
378 calories
average heart rate: 123 bpm
cardio load: 39
66 active zone minutes
22 minutes moderate
22 minutes vigorous

Walk Receipts

Almost identical distance.
Almost identical time.
Completely different body response.

The pace actually slowed down on the way home, but the Arizona heat turned the return trip into a full-body cooling operation.

The body doesn’t care what the pace says when the sidewalk feels like it’s trying to become lava. 🌵🔥

Still counts.
Especially when the weather is actively trying to cook you like fajita vegetables. 😆
