Sunny and bright North Phoenix day with beautiful clouds overhead.

The Walk
Walk 2 of 5 for the week of April 19 delivered exactly what the Starbucks Carrot Method promises — a reason to get moving, something enjoyable waiting at the turnaround point, and a reminder that consistency beats intensity most days.

The desert was showing off a bit this morning.

Ocotillo blooms popping out along the route, palms forming their spring clusters, and a sky that looked like it understood it was part of the content plan.

Spotted one very organized dog-walking operation that deserves its own logistics award.

Playlist ranged from The Beatles to Dropkick Murphys, which feels like appropriate preparation for my Boston trip later this week.

Coffee checkpoint achieved. Steps secured. Pinball scheduled for later at Electric Bat Arcade.

Still counts.

WWS Reflection

One of the most helpful mindset shifts in this process has been learning that every walk does not need to be high intensity to be effective.

The first leg of the walk stayed mostly in the light heart rate zone, while the return naturally moved into moderate effort territory without forcing anything.

That balance is part of sustainability.

Some days are about pushing pace.

Some days are about protecting the habit.

Both move the story forward.

Incidental exercise continues to be one of the most realistic ways to support overall wellness, especially when paired with something enjoyable like coffee, music, or community activities like pinball league nights.

Steps. Sips. Flips.

Still counts.
