The competitive pinball world continues to grow, and behind the scenes there are people working to organize tournaments, track rankings, and help communities thrive.
Recently, the International Flipper Pinball Association (IFPA) announced two new additions to its team: Christina Capra and Emily Cosson.
Both bring deep experience from the competitive scene and a passion for helping the community grow.
Christina Capra
Christina Capra began playing competitive pinball about six years ago in Wilmington, North Carolina with the Cape Fear Flipper Club before later joining the Abari league in Charlotte.
She currently serves as the IFPA state representative for women’s competitive pinball in North Carolina. Through her involvement with tournaments and leagues, she has been a strong advocate for increasing women’s participation in open events and strengthening the competitive scene.
Competitive pinball relies heavily on volunteers and organizers who help build welcoming communities, and Christina’s work has helped create more opportunities for players to get involved.
Emily Cosson
Emily Cosson’s connection to pinball goes back even further.
She began playing at just three years old on machines from her father’s home pinball collection. When local arcades began hosting tournaments, she quickly became hooked on the competitive side of the hobby.
Over more than a decade of competition, Emily has traveled across Australia and internationally to participate in events. Today, her focus has shifted toward organizing tournaments and growing the competitive pinball community.
She is also involved in hosting the Australian Pinball Open and helped establish a regular Belles & Chimes league in Brisbane.
The People Behind the Machines
Organizations like the IFPA help connect the global pinball community by tracking player rankings, sanctioning tournaments, and supporting leagues around the world.
But behind the rankings and events are volunteers, organizers, and passionate players who keep the hobby alive.
As competitive pinball continues to expand, contributions from people like Christina Capra and Emily Cosson help ensure that new players always have a place to start.
And that the silverball keeps rolling.
