Location: North Phoenix, Arizona
Activity: Morning walk before Desert Dolls pinball tournament
Walk number five for the week happened on a Desert Dolls tournament day, which is honestly one of my favorite kinds of walks.
The weather in North Phoenix was cool and bright, with that big Arizona sky that makes it hard to stay inside. It felt like a perfect reset before a day of pinball.

I stopped at my bench for a quick rest.

I looked on Facebook and saw Kevin Hearne, writer of one of my favorite book series, Iron Druid Chronicles, posting about one of his books. I WAS ALL EXCITED! Then I had to walk back home and imagined walking past his main characters on my walk. Lol

This one is a reminder that wellness doesn’t always happen in perfectly planned gym sessions. Sometimes it’s a quick walk before a tournament (2.6 miles – earlier in the morning), a few extra steps in the parking lot, or choosing to move your body before a long day of standing at machines.
That’s the Wellness Whiskers Silverballs philosophy:
Movement counts.
Incidental exercise counts.
Showing up counts.
Tournament days are actually sneaky exercise days. Between walking the venue, pacing between games, stretching, and the occasional nervous lap while waiting for your turn, the steps add up quickly.
Today started with a walk, a little sunshine, and the excitement of seeing the Desert Dolls crew.
From there, the rest of the day is pinball, friends, and whatever the machines decide to give us.
