This room (and the surrounding setup) exists so:

• cats feel safe and confident
• food and litter don’t become stress points
• we can answer real questions at the vet
• pet sitters can step in easily
• and daily care turns into incidental exercise that still counts

🍽️ Feeding: Individual Needs, No Competition

we designed the system so each cat can eat without food theft.

Willow, Gabby, and Xena
→ Gravity feeders inside bins with chip-activated doors, programmed to each cat

Monkey
→ Her own bin with a timed feeder (attitude respected 😄)

Mr. T
→ SureFlap Pet Feeder no bin, plus a refillable container staged nearby

This means:

• no guarding
• no guessing who ate
• real answers when the vet asks, “Is Xena eating?”

💧 Water: Redundancy = Hydration

We keep two fountains on opposite ends of the house.
SOOFPET water fountains and SOOFPET water fountain filters
encourages cats to drink more water and is easy to clean

Cats drink more when water is:

• easy to find
• not all in one place
• fresh and maintained

Maintenance rhythm:

• fountains rinsed weekly
• filters changed every ~3 weeks

It’s preventative care—and yes, carrying water, bending, rinsing, and resetting?
That’s movement.

Still counts.

🚽 Litter: The Command Center

We use a 2 cabinets stacked with:

• three litter boxes
• mats to catch flung litter
• built-in storage for the scoop, broom, trash bags, paper towels, and vinegar-water spray
  • Everything lives where it’s used, so cleanups are:
    • faster
    • calmer
    • less overwhelming
  • Vacuuming and litter box maintenance help regulate the space—it’s care, not punishment.
• This amazing  system was designed by Andrew, approved by me, and refined fast—because at one point we had two neonatal kittens arrive unexpectedly on top of our resident cats.
• Night light behind catbox cabinets.
  
  That experience taught us:
• quarantine matters
• introductions should respect temperament
• clarity prevents chaos
• and good systems outlast emergencies
  
  Today’s calm didn’t happen by accident. It was built.
  
  🏃‍♀️ Incidental Exercise
  
  Running this room includes:
• lifting bins
• carrying water
• bending, squatting, reaching
• short walking loops
• repetitive, useful movement
• No workout clothes.
• No performance.
• Just life, maintained.
• And yes—it still counts.
