Yesterday, from 1pm until it was over, Player 1 hosted the Split Flipper Amazing Race Farewell Tournament — and it was exactly what this place has always been: loud, crowded, chaotic, warm, and full of people who showed up because it mattered.
Diane and Jim hosted, quietly celebrating 25 years together, while Andrew and I marked 28 years of our own in the middle of it all. That felt right. Long games, long relationships, long arcs — all built the same way: showing up, over and over.
Proof that this wasn’t just an arcade —
it was a community that compounded.
One of the most powerful moments wasn’t a score — it was the Player 1 league timeline, laid out for everyone to see. Years of growth you could literally point to. Proof that this wasn’t just an arcade. It was a community that compounded.
There were flowers on the bar. A photo. Clipboards and score sheets. Old cabinets humming in the corners. Desert Dolls energy in the room. People hovering, watching, waiting, laughing, sharing flippers and brain cells. The kind of day that reminds you pinball has never really been about machines — it’s about people.
