Still Going, Even When I Wasn’t Sure I Wanted To
Walk 3 of 5 almost didn’t happen.
It was one of those days — the kind where motivation is slippery, the weather can’t make up its mind, and the couch has a very convincing argument. Cold air, the threat of rain, sun breaking through just enough to be blinding… and Monkey demanded warmth and snuggles, so I was briefly held hostage by a cat who does not recognize fitness goals.
Before I even made it out the door, I had:
Outfit indecision (cold + wind + sun = rude), two separate cat barf cleanup incidents (incidental exercise, unfun version), a surprise package outside that required a garage detour, and a second attempt at leaving.
Still… I left.
The Walk Itself

The sky was moody and dramatic — heavy clouds with breaks of light that felt cinematic instead of cozy.
I walked into a cold headwind with the sun aiming directly at my eyeballs.
No, I did not know where my sunglasses were.
Yes, I squinted anyway.

Halfway there, the rhythm settled in. Intersections crossed. Breath evened out. I noticed the sky instead of the excuses.

By the time I reached my turnaround point, coffee was earned and claimed — followed by a short bench break to warm my hands and reset my nervous system.
That’s when the wind really showed itself. Flags flying hard. Palms swaying. Arizona doing Arizona things.
The Turnaround
The walk home brought a shift — the kind that sneaks up on you. The rain started lightly, cool against warm skin. The breeze stayed strong. And the music in my earbuds? Fully dance-worthy.
Luke Bryan’s “Rain Is a Good Thing” came on, and suddenly the walk turned into a moment. Not a performance — just movement, joy, and letting the rain be part of it instead of something to fight.

This is why I walk even when I don’t feel like it.
Not every walk feels amazing at the start. Some start with doubt, inconvenience, weather complaints, and messy real life. But sometimes, if you go anyway, the ending surprises you.

The Takeaway
This walk wasn’t about pace.
It wasn’t about distance.
It wasn’t about perfect conditions.
It was about still going.

Walk 3 of 5 is done — and it mattered.
Because this is real wellness. Showing up imperfectly. Letting the day change while you move through it. Trusting that even when you don’t want to, your body and mind usually thank you afterward.
Still counts.
Still going.
