60 minutes · 2.65 miles

Today’s walk was one of those layered, very-real-life movement days — the kind that quietly proves you don’t need ideal conditions to make progress.

I headed out already sore, and honestly a little amused by it. Strength training earlier in the day (goblet squats and bent-over rows) had made itself known, and my body was also still carrying the after-effects of last night’s pinball tournament at Player 1 Arcade. Not injury sore — the good kind. The kind that says: you showed up, you worked, and now your muscles would like acknowledgment.
The first part of the walk was about warming up and finding rhythm. Coffee in hand, steps settling into something steady, stiffness slowly giving way to momentum. Walking has a way of doing that — you don’t need to feel ready before you start. Readiness often shows up after the first few blocks.

About halfway through, the walk shifted into multitasking mode — and in the best possible way.
I spent the second half FaceTiming with my daughter and my grandbaby. We talked, laughed, picked out a first birthday outfit, and sorted baby clothes together — all while I kept moving. No stopping. No “I’ll finish this later.” Just life happening alongside motion.

This is the kind of movement that rarely looks impressive on paper, but matters deeply in practice.
It wasn’t quiet or meditative. It wasn’t perfectly focused. It was connective, practical, and full of joy — layered on top of sore muscles and a body that’s learning strength again.
This walk included:
- Recovery movement after strength training
- Residual tournament fatigue from competitive pinball
- Emotional and mental effort
- Family connection and planning
- Continuous forward motion
That all counts.

By the time I headed home, I had logged 60 minutes and 2.65 miles, but more importantly, I stacked wellness with real life instead of trying to separate them. This is how consistency actually works — not by waiting for empty space, but by letting movement coexist with everything else.
Walk 2 of 5 for the week of February 15 is complete.
Still going.
Still counts.
