This morning tried to talk me out of it.
- The Starbucks app wouldn’t let me preorder.
- My weather app was convinced it was raining.
- Meanwhile, the windows at my house said, “Looks clear to me.”
So I walked anyway.
If it rains, I won’t melt. I’ll embrace it and keep going.
Waiting for coffee meant waiting—so I grabbed protein too.
Not a setback. A solution.
The walk itself was cool and breezy, with a sky doing something dramatic and beautiful.

I stopped at my bench for a protein break, took it all in, and reminded myself that this is why I keep showing up.
The soundtrack on the way to Starbucks did most of the heavy lifting: Casablanca, then Moon River, then I washed that guy right outta my hair, followed by “Good Morning” with Debbie Reynolds.
On the way home, the musical theater gods fully clocked in.
Barbra said don’t rain on my parade.
Julie taught me to sing through the Alps.
Fiddler on the Roof marched my ass the rest of the way home.
All while being teased the entire way by the cutest little feather-light raindrops.
Dancing, skipping, marching—hand motions included.
Yes, there were jazz hands.
Fate kept teasing me with reasons to play hooky—but my walks are genuinely fun.
Good tunes, a positive attitude, and forward motion beats a messy forecast every time.
Life doesn’t get tidy before you start.
You start anyway.
